BEANS
Great month for beans: Borlotti, runner, Val de Loire, yellow, flat Helda, flat white etc. Coco de Paimpol to come.
GRAPES
‘Prima’ is the first of the European grape varieties. ‘Muscat’ soon to follow, along with Italian red and white seedless.
BERRIES
Annabel’s strawberries.
Gooseberries - green and red.
White and redcurrants.
Hand-picked Panache raspberries including black, yellow and pink.
FRUITS
Melons - full range including Charentais from Meffre, Piel de Sapo, Galia, black-skinned watermelon, Zerbinati smooth-skinned.
Cherries - excellent quality.
Stone fruit including blood peach, blood nectarine, flat peach, apricots, plums. Vanillacots finish at start of July.
Also English round peaches, flat peaches, nectarines.
VEGETABLES
Provence tomatoes - grown in the sun and soil.
Onions: new crop from Spain, Tropea and button white from Italy, pink from Brittany.
UK peas and broad beans.
Artichokes: Globe and bunched. Short supply.
Courgettes: round (green / yellow), white, Nicois, Romana, marrows, flowers, Zucchiolo.
Jersey Royals, Noirmoutier and Linzer potaoes.
UK baby vegetables.
UK Hispi, purple sprouting, tender stem, bunched carrots.
UK salads. French from Beausse and Nourrit.
WILD CARD
French cobnuts.
Green walnuts from Potash Farm in Kent.
Lavender from Castle Farm in Kent.
FIGS
French figs are starting, along with Spanish black figs and green figs from Italy.
WET GARLIC
Beautiful wet garlic from France - lovely mellow flavour. Also pink garlic.
END OF SEASON
Monk’s beard / agretti.
Alphonso mangoes.
Tokyo turnips.
Asparagus.
