PEARS
English and French varieties: Red and Green Williams, Beurre Hardy, Louis Bonne, Guyot, Conference, Harrow Sweet.
FRUITS
UK apples include Cox, Gala russets, Kissabel.
Annabel’s strawberries finish this week - their season stretched longer this year.
Bursa black figs from Turkey now replace Sollies from France.
Grapes - Muscat de Hambourg, Chasselas de Moissac.
Red-flesh Lovita plums - grown in Moissac.
Pomegranates recommended.
Spanish persimmons.
VEGETABLES
UK brassicas getting better by the day - incl. Savoy, spring greens, Hispi, Primo, Romanesco, kales from Molyneaux. Brussel sprouts have started.
UK Chantenay carrots, bunched carrots. Also Piccolo parsnips. courgettes and marrows.
UK leeks.
UK salads from Betts still going.
New-season Cevennes onions, Roscoff, French red and white Grelot onions.
Radicchios such as Tardivo just starting from Italy. Other bitter leaves incl. Frizeline, puntarelle.
Mushrooms include Ceps, Pied de Mouton, Trompette, Chanterelles, Girolle.
ROOTS
New season roots: parsley root, chervil root, radish (Breakfast, Blue Meat, Green Meat, Pink Meat, Red Meat), salsify, topinambour, black mooli, celeriac etc.
