Produce Report For September 2025
September is one of the best months - a lot of summer produce is still going strong while autumnal ingredients are just rolling in.
- French Sollies figs are simply extraordinary- sticky, sweet and super seasonal.
- Plums are at their best. UK varieties this month include the last of the Victoria followed by Marjorie’s Seedling. Also greengage / Reine Claude, Mirabelle and red-flesh.
- UK apples are fully underway and growers expect an excellent crop. Discovery are over, followed by Early Windsor, russets, Gala, Cox. Pears are starting, too - Conference followed by Comice.
- For grapes, Muscat from France
- Peaches and nectarines still going strong. Melons still eating well.
- Squashes just starting - such as Muscade, Onion, Acorn.
- UK strawberries from Annabel’s may last as late as October.
- UK veg includes sweetcorn, bunched carrots, beetroot, kales.
- Brassicas such as tenderstem and cauliflowers are still tight due to dry weather.
